1. Get down on their level: When you’re taking photos with your dog, try to get down on their level. This will help you capture their unique perspective and create more intimate, engaging photos.
2. Turn your phone: Flipping your phone upside down will move the camera lower and create a better shot, especially if you get down low to take your shot. Don’t worry your camera should automatically flip your image the right way around when it saves it, if not you can edit the image afterwards.
3. Use natural light: Natural light is always best for photography, so try to take your photos outside or near a window. This will help create a warm, soft glow that will make your photos look more natural and flattering.
4. Get creative: Don’t be afraid to get creative when taking photos with your dog. Try different angles, poses, and settings to create unique, memorable photos that capture your dog’s personality.
5. Use treats and toys: If your dog is particularly camera-shy, try using treats or toys to get their attention. This will help them focus on you and the camera, and may even result in some cute, candid shots.
6. Portrait mode: If you phone has portrait mode use it to capture your dog. Just tap on the screen on the dogs face where you want it to focus. Also don’t forget to clean your lenses before you take your shot, phones especially get really dirty sitting in our pockets. Use a cloth to clean the back and front lenses and you will be amazed at the difference it makes.
7. Think composition: Try adding gridlines to your camera in the settings function on your phone. You should see a 3 vertical and 3 horizontal lines when taking the picture. Try and line up the vista you are taking a photo of with the grid lines. Then try and make sure your subjects are placed where the grid lines intersect. This will really elevate your pictures.
8. Include yourself: Don’t forget to include yourself in your holiday photos with your dog! Whether you’re cuddling up on the sofa or exploring the countryside together, your presence will help create a sense of connection and warmth in your photos.
